In Haiti EWF:
- provided emergency earthquake relief and supplies in Port au Prince
- will offer employment opportunities to nationals during building projects
- is currently building a church and a school
- is engaged in community outreach.
Future Goals for Haiti:
- Support the local Church
- Support the School
- Develop a Farming Initiative
- Further Community Outreach
- Job Creation Programs
Chris and Johanne Reid have brought the vision, desire for change, and motivation to our Haiti Project. Both of their hearts are dedicated to uplifting the Haitian people. Prior to our meeting they had used their life savings to not only purchase an area of land in nearby Milot, but also to repair the community’s only sign of development; the water pump.
Seeing the two of them within their community really solidified that they are the right people for Emmanuel’s Wish to work with. Being a Haitian native, Johanne understands the customs and inner workings of the community very well, and Chris has worked hard at building fantastic relationships with members of that community. They are the people in the community that are always willing to lend a hand, always have the energy to do more, and are always supportive of ideas to uplift their friends and neighbours. They are also teaching the community about the Christian faith through unique celebrations like Christmas and Easter. Chris and Johanne are both extremely excited to oversee the Haiti Project for Emmanuel’s Wish and we are thrilled to partner with them.
