Emmanuel’s Wish Foundation is currently operating a respite home (hospice) in the village of Richmond, ZNA, South Africa. The Respite Home is an 11 patient unit equipped to serve the most vulnerable: the sick and dying. The staff are able to care for both adults and children and the home is now operating at full capacity. We are pleased to report that curently an average of 76% of our patients are able to return to their homes and families after being treated in our facility. With God’s grace, several of those that have come to us in their last days can now care for their children instead of leaving them orphaned to the care of the state. We are so blessed to be a part of bringing both dignity and hope to those afflicted with AIDS.
EWF is also please to report that the Siyathemba (See ya tem ba) Childrens Centre is nearing completion. Siyathemba was a very special 10 year old boy that came to the Hospice for AIDS related care and he was the first child to pass away at the Hospice. Siyatemba’s parents had passed away and he was left to care for himself. He was deeply loved and cared for by the staff at the EWF Hospice and the children’s centre was named in his honour. Siyathemba is Zulu for “We have hope” as we believe everyone should. The Children’s centre is a place for those children who have been orphaned, abandoned, or abused to stay in safety until they can be placed with family members, adopted or placed in EWF foster care.
In South Africa EWF:
• has funded several foster homes for children who were unable to be placed in a permanent home.
• provided operational costs to the foster homes.
• has provided operational costs to a transitional home.
• has provided operational costs to a crisis pregnancy centre.
• provided educational scholarships to young adults.
• sponsored school fees for children.
• has opened an HIV/AIDS hospsice.
